Long daylight hours, fabulous sunsets, and outdoor fun in Grand Forks – nothing says summertime quite like patio dining! Join us as we explore some of the unique local and big chain venues offering outdoor patio or deck food and drinks around the Forks. Grab your sunglasses and get ready to feel the breeze!

1. The Blue Moose Bar & Grill

The Blue Moose, “a place in East Grand Forks”, has one of the longest running outdoor dining experiences in the Grand Cities.  In recent years they added on a huge deck, which means you can kick back and relax while taking in views of the Red River, the historic Sorlie Bridge, and downtown Grand Forks. A varied summer menu holds a little something for everyone, including a large selection of Long Island iced tea flavors. You’re sure to enjoy some of the many apps and their famous fried walleye filet.

2. The Boardwalk Bar & Grill

Right next door, you’ll find a deck with its own name: the Boardwalk Bar & Grill’s Riverdeck. Sit back and enjoy one of the better views of downtown from a second-floor patio with plenty of shade. Cooler evenings, particularly in the spring or fall, are no problem with their open flame heaters and retractable screens. If you like lavash pizza (think thin, almost crackery crust without the traditional marinara sauce), this is one of the better places to go. From mojitos to margaritas to your local tap favorites, the Boardwalk’s drink menu has you covered.

3. Rhombus Guys Pizza

Jumping across the river to downtown Grand Forks, Rhombus Guys’ 3^rd floor rooftop may be the most unique outdoor experience for food and drink.  Known for their famous specialty pizzas, they can even turn your favorite pizza into a plate of nachos! At their historic 312 Kittson Avenue location, you can grab one of their beers crafted at their brew pub down the street on 3^rd (which  also has outdoor patio dining).

4. Eagle’s Crest Grill

Stretching our reach from downtown to the far southside, there’s the Eagles Crest Grill at King’s Walk Golf Course (an Arnold Palmer signature course. Maybe you’re a golfer (or not!) but the Eagle’s Crest patio offers plenty of shade to putter around in, along with gorgeous views of the golf course, 9^th hole fountain, and fabulous homes and condos ringing the course. Although they have a very large menu selection, the beef tips with garlic toast and spinach queso dip with deep fried pita chips are two of our faves!

5. Ground Round Grill and Bar

One of the long-standing south end hot spots is the Ground Round Grill and Bar on 32^nd Avenue South. In the last year, they’ve opened a one-of-kind indoor/outdoor area where the full food and bar menu is available. If being outdoors isn’t your jam, step right through the open large garage doors linking the outside area to inside, and continue to enjoy an al fresco experience. Something for everyone with a diverse menu, their baby-back ribs nab the spotlight. Don’t forget the complimentary popcorn (with a side of ranch!) while you enjoy your appetizers and drinks.

6. Crooked Pint Ale House

Circling around on our circuit of outdoor dining and drinks, we head north on Columbia Road to Crooked Pint Ale House. Their menu serves up nine different “Lucy” burgers (juicy burgers stuffed with cheese and other toppings). A standard Lucy will leave you drooling, and more adventurous eaters might take a bite out of the peanut butter and bacon or jalapeno Lucy. If you’re looking for a different specialty burger, the sweet heat Lucy with ghost peppers isn’t found anywhere else in the Forks. Crooked Pint curates their beer menu to each location with regional craft beers and nationally known favorites.
