Everybody loves the warm, inviting smell of something good in the oven as they walk through the door. Whether you grew up in the kitchen like me, or it’s foreign territory, there are plenty of opportunities for your inner baker to shine here in Grand Forks. If that is what you’re looking for, then you’ve come to the right place! I’ve baked up this article just for folks like you!

Baking Around Grand Forks: Grand Forks, ND Facebook Community Page

The yeast I can do is make sure to acknowledge and shout out our local Facebook page! This page, if you have an account, is a wealth of knowledge on local events, including local baking opportunities. They will advertise upcoming “Sourdough 101” events in the community and other specific baking events. Joining this page is one of my best tips if you want to get involved in community baking! Best part? A lot of these events are free to attend!

Baking Around Grand Forks: The Little Kitchen

As you will see, there are a few places on this list that aren’t quite located directly in town per se, but still worth checking out in my (cook) book. Firstly, we have The Little Kitchen in Grafton, ND. A place that proves size doesn’t matter when it comes to flavor. This shop not only sells some delectable bites, but they also offer cooking classes in the summer months! A fabulous opportunity to sharpen up your skills in the kitchen.

Baking Around Grand Forks: UND Better Baking Classes

UND’s Better Baking Classes offer you the chance to go from defaulting to boxed mixes, to a buttercream connoisseur! And even better, the classes are open to both students and community members! They have classes focused on macarons, bread, cake decorating, and more!

Baking Around Grand Forks: SquareOne Kitchen

Alright, so this one is a bit more of a day trip, but oh so sweet and worth it! SquareOne Kitchen in Fargo, ND, offers some spectacular cooking and baking classes. They will be starting back up again this fall, so if you’re interested, be sure to check them out.

Baking Around Grand Forks: The 1889

Our last addition in Fargo, is 1889. Technically, this spot is a full restaurant, but they sure know their way around a dessert menu. They do offer cooking and/or baking classes as well, which would be a fun idea for a friends get together! You can get the full culinary experience at this spot!

Baking Around Grand Forks: DHI Sweet Street

Alright, back to a regular baking grounds, we have a local sweet spot. DHI Sweet Street is a full-service hometown bakery providing customers with all the sugar they could possibly crave. From donuts, to pie, to everything in between, they are worth checking out!

Baking Around Grand Forks: Something Sweet

If you’re looking for a caterer or need a beautiful cake for an event, Something Sweet should be on your list! They have a wide variety of products available, including traditional breads, cupcakes, cakes, mini tarts, sweet rolls, pie, and even pavlova! Definitely a spot to consider for those looking for some high-quality treats to impress your guests!

Baking Around Grand Forks: Bernie’s

Located in East Grand Forks, Bernie’s is a brunch haven with a bakery case to die for. One cinnamon roll and they’ve got you hooked. They keep their menu up to date with the seasons and everything is homemade as well! Also, a beautiful location right in downtown by the river. Their airy and bright décor only adds to the sweet vibes of their delicious baked goods.

Baking Around Grand Forks: Due North GF Bakery & Goods

Our final addition outside Grand Forks city limits, is the Due North Gluten Free Bakery. It’s located in Hatton, ND, about a 45 min drive from town. I wanted to include this spot, not only because of their divine selection of sweets, but because the cherry on top is it’s all gluten-free! If you’re celiac, gluten-intolerant, or just trying your darndest to make healthier choices, check this place out! A must try for gluten-free goers.

Baking Around Grand Forks: Hugo’s Family Marketplace

Now, if you’re a local reading this, you may be thinking, Hugo’s? Yes! Our regular local grocery store chain has a fantastic bakery! You can specially order cakes and baked goods, or just choose one already made! So delish! Hugo’s is also a one stop shop if you need to up your supplies for baking at home! They’ve got pretty much everything you need to get started in the kitchen!

Baking Around Grand Forks: Rebekah’s Sweet Treats Bakery

If Pinterest and a bakery had a baby, it’d be Rebekah’s Sweet Treats Bakery. Based in East Grand Forks, it’s a definite go-to spot for cookies that you’ll almost feel bad about eating, they’re so pretty. With a wide range of products, Rebekah knows what she’s doing! Another great option if you need a birthday, graduation, or any celebratory cake! She is kind of a one woman show, so you may need to reach out to her directly in order to get your hands on some of her sweet treats!
