Reading Around Greater Grand Forks:
March is National Reading Month, and there are countless ways to celebrate right here in Grand Forks. Reading strengthens vocabulary, improves focus, reduces stress, and opens doors to new ideas and perspectives. Whether you are an avid reader or just hoping to read a little more this year, this month is the perfect excuse to dive in.
Reading is one of my most enjoyed hobbies, and I cannot wait to share some of the many wonderful places in Grand Forks that can help you find your next favorite book.

Reading Around Greater Grand Forks: Local Libraries
Grand Forks Public Library and Campbell Library in East Grand Forks both offer large gathering spaces, diverse collections, and engaging programming for readers of all ages.
The Grand Forks Public Library is a favorite stop for my family. We love spending time in the play area and checking out books and games to enjoy together at home. They recently wrapped up their winter reading program, and there is always something new being planned. Be sure to check out their quarterly magazine on their website to see what programs, clubs, and events are coming up next.
Just across the river, Campbell Library also maintains a busy calendar filled with opportunities for community members to connect through reading. A major event to highlight is their upcoming 25th Anniversary celebration on April 17, 2026. Keep an eye on their website and social media for more details. This is one celebration you won’t want to miss!
Reading Around Greater Grand Forks: Bookstores Around the Forks
If you prefer to build your home library or simply enjoy browsing colorful shelves, Grand Forks has several locally owned bookstores that are absolutely worth a visit during National Reading Month.

Reading Around Greater Grand Forks: Abigail’s Book and Gift Shop
Located inside Midtown Marketplace, Abigail’s is my go-to stop whether I’ve had a great day, a tough day, or just want to treat myself. This shop offers a variety of books from new releases, popular series, comforting classics, and much more. They also offer the cutest bookish gifts, perfect for sharing with fellow readers. Abigail’s hosts pop-up shops around the Greater Grand Forks area, including the upcoming Campbell Library celebration in April, monthly book socials at the Olive Ann, and a Teen and Adult Book Fair at the Grand Forks Public Library in June. Some huge news from Abigail’s Book and Gift Shop is the recent announcement that they will be moving to a new location! Keep an eye out for news about their grand opening coming up soon!

Reading Around Greater Grand Forks: Silver Dawn Books
Silver Dawn is a wonderful option for readers who love giving books a second life. This used bookstore encourages customers to bring in past loved books to be enjoyed again by someone new. They also carry a selection of new titles. This is the perfect shop to stop by during National Reading Month so you can make some room on your bookshelves for something new. Throughout March, they are hosting local author signings every Saturday, along with a read-aloud story time on one of the Saturdays. Check their Facebook page for specific dates and details and be sure to ask about joining their email list to stay updated on new arrivals and events.
Reading Around Greater Grand Forks: Witchwood Bookshoppe
Calling all romantasy lovers, this store is for you! Witchwood Bookshoppe opened its doors in Grand Forks in 2025 and has quickly become a unique space for readers seeking something a little magical. My favorite thing about this store is their “Cauldron of Spice” system for organizing books, which helps readers know exactly what they’re getting into when picking up a new book. If you want to know more about this guide, you’ll have to stop in to check it out! Witchwood also includes a children’s section, features local authors, and hosts a monthly book club with a twist: readers can choose from multiple book options each month. Meetings include one silent reading session and one discussion session, creating space for both quiet enjoyment and meaningful connection. The store also offers a writers group, further establishing it as a welcoming hub for readers and creators alike.

Reading Around Greater Grand Forks: Gracie’s Place
Gracie’s Place, Grand Forks’ newest bookstore, radiates inclusivity, warmth, and charm. Named after the owners’ family dog, this bookstore is clearly a heart project. Every detail, from thoughtfully selected books to handpicked tote bags and locally made hats, reflects care and purpose. This shop is open Thursday through Sunday, and on weekends, visitors are greeted with complimentary hot coffee (along with cold options available for purchase), adding to the cozy atmosphere. The store also features local authors and creators and supports the community by collecting donations for United Way. When customers donate, they are invited to choose a free book. Use National Reading Month as your excuse to check out this shop!
You truly cannot go wrong during National Reading Month in Grand Forks as long as you are finding a way to get your nose in a book. Whether you consider yourself a loyal library borrower, a proud bookshelf collector, or someone who loves refreshing your shelves with a great deal, our community has a place for you. As for me, I am hoping to treat myself to at least one book from each of these locations this month. Happy reading!
