Kind of a Big Dill: Best Pickles Around the Forks

If you’re anything like me, there’s no such things as too many pickles. Whether they’re fried, layered on pizza, sitting next to a martini, or waiting for you at a morning farmers market, the Grand Forks area has enough pickles for all!

First stop: Ely’s Ivy. They know how to make an incredible pickle! Their deep-fried cheese & pickles appetizer is pure perfection, melty cheese, crisp tempura batter, simply INCREDIBLE. But my personal favorite is in the details, their bread and butter pickles. They are sweet, tangy, and addictive. If you like the bread and butter pickles, this is your place! They also have a fantastically flavored pickle dip. Use it with your fried pickle appetizer OR have it on its own. Yum!

Want to try something truly out of the norm? Widman’s knows how to do a salty sweet collab right. Their chocolate covered pickles will knock your socks off! Not to mention, they’re located downtown along with most of the other featured pickles in this article, so if I were you, I’d have a downtown pickle crawl! Sounds like a great day to me!

Next up we have a combination of a couple of my favorite things: pickles and pizza! At UpNorth Pizza in East Grand Forks, they can do both. Their pickled pizza is one of my favorites! I love the bechamel sauce and fresh dill toppings, along with the crunchy pickles! The perfect pair!

Another pickle pizza knockout in town is the Rhombus Guys Spicy Pickle pizza. With a rich, jalapeño cream cheese sauce that cuts the tang of the pickles, it truly melts in your mouth. Throw on the canadian bacon, parmesan, provolone, and the delicious pickles and you’re in heaven!

It wouldn’t be a reliable Grand Forks pickle article without mentioning The Toasted Frog. If I’m eating there, I must get an order of the fried cheesy pickles, it’s just common sense! The best times are made at the Frog, with friends, martinis, and cheesy pickles! There’s truly nothing like it. Also, I LOVE the sriracha aioli, it’s incredible with just about everything on their menu. These pickles are Grand Forks famous for a reason!

Now, you might be skeptical of this one due to the name, but don’t be fooled. Flippin’ Happy Home Décor & More has an entire wall of unique and fun pickles to try out. Definitely the spot for a true pickle connoisseur. Located off South Washington, add this one to your regular shopping spree!

If you want a classic loaded bloody mary, the short trip from town out to Reynolds North Dakota is oh so worth it. Their Beehive Bar’s Bloody Mary has some dilltastic pickles in it. Talk about a spirit with taste!

I couldn’t write about pickles in Grand Forks without giving a shoutout to the Town Square Farmers Market! Even though the season’s wrapped up for now, it’s worth remembering for next summer, so many local vendors serve up incredible homemade pickles that taste like summer in a jar.
