Bold Flavors: 20 Spots for World-Class Cuisine in Grand Forks

Grand Forks is home to great global cuisines for every palette. Whether you’re craving chicken adobo or cumin-forward curry you can find it all in Grand Forks. Find a few of my favorite restaurants and dishes below:

Grand Forks Cultural Cuisine: Downtown

Kaizen Grand Forks
My favorite sushi restaurant. Their volcano roll is similar to the rolls I grew up with in Hawaii and Southern California. Kaizen also serves a wide variety of dishes from spicy curries, noodle and rice entrees, and warm, loaded ramen which is perfect to warm the bones on a chilly day!

Las Delicias de La Abuela
A fun family-owned restaurant featuring Mexican food. Be sure to check out their unique highlights like their brunches and Mexican hotdogs and definitely don’t miss their Taco Tuesday specials where you can get a full plate of tacos or flautas with a side for $8. Talk about a deal!

Grand Forks Cultural Cuisine: Food Trucks

The Wok “Filipino Cuisine”
My favorite food truck! I look forward to seeing them at the hospital in the summer. The chicken adobo is perfection. You’ll want to check out their exclusive Filipino dishes like their warm and crispy lumpia, which are Filipino fried spring rolls. Make sure to follow the Wok on social media to keep tabs on where they will pop up next.

Melissa’s Mobile Cocina
This food truck offers authentic Tex-Mex food. The birria is elite! Some of their other favorites include breakfast tacos, their incredible tres leces, and their refreshing agua frescas to keep you cool on a hot day at the Farmer’s Market. Don’t forget to check out their catering options, too. Your party will be glad you did. You’ll definitely want to follow this food truck on socials, too, so you don’t miss their ever-changing locations!

Grand Forks Cultural Cuisine: North End and East Grand Forks

Safari Restaurant East African Cuisine

Delicious East African Cuisine right in our backyard. Here you can enjoy comforting simple pleasures like their perfectly seasoned Somali basmati rice, to flavor-packed delights like their beef, chicken, or goat meat combos. Also, the portions here are massive!

Casa Mexico in East Grand Forks

With their food made fresh daily, this is definitely some of the best Mexican food in the region. You’ll want to try their chilaquiles, which are my favorite dish. Their menu is absolutely massive, so if you’re feeling any kind of Mexican dish, they probably have it.

Grand Forks Cultural Cuisine: Midtown

Seoul Kitchen

A Korean restaurant featuring kalbi, Korean short ribs, and other foods. Everything on their menu is a must try, but be sure to try their croffles—a croissant cooked crispy like a waffle and covered in delicious toppings. Keep your tabs on their socials–they’re so popular that they sell out of dishes quickly!

King Pho

A Vietnamese restaurant featuring Pho and other delicious dishes. Their loaded and deeply rich pho soups are guaranteed to be your new favorite comfort food.

Fuji Japanese Seafood and Steakhouse

Fuji offers authentic and delicious Japanese cuisine. If you’re looking for dinner and a show, this is the place to stop! With a hibachi-style grill, the chefs are sure to entertain you while also keeping your bellies full.

Paradiso Mexican Restaurant

Paradiso has fajitas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas and chimichangas. The restaurant has vegetarian friendly food inspired by dishes from Mexico. Pro tip: Paradiso is one of the last places in town that you can still get an entirely free meal on your birthday. Between that and their famous margaritas, it’s no wonder that they have been a town favorite for decades.

Chino Latino

This restaurant features Latino, middle eastern and Asian fusion cuisine. Offering massive portions for incredible deals, you’re guaranteed more bang for your buck. Also pro tip: they are drive thru and delivery only!

Grand Forks Cultural Cuisine: South End

House of Punjab

House of Punjab is a family-owned restaurant specializing in northern Indian cuisine. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Shahi Korma are my two favorite meals. The spice level is customizable to your palette and the service is always friendly.

Everest 8848

An eatery serving authentic Nepali and Indian foods in Grand Forks. Their momos are amazing! Be sure to keep tabs on their socials to keep up with their regular buy 2 get 1 free deals.

El Gordito

Delicious homemade Mexican and Salvadoran food with an incredible selection and tons of variety. This is another spot where you’ll definitely want to keep tabs on their crazy affordable daily specials through socials. Bonus: The team here is always kind.

Charras Grand Forks

Charras and Tequila Mexican Cuisine offers big portions of food made with fresh ingredients. Their shrimp fajitas are my go-to order. (The guac experience here is incredible, too, since they custom make it for you right at your table!)

Chicago Burritos

Authentic Mexican cuisine including birria, tacos, tamales, enchiladas and menudo. Another great restaurant with awesome daily specials!

West African Cuisine

The most delicious dishes from West Africa. Jollof rice, shish kebab, couscous, and kala are just some of the scrumptious offerings.

China Garden

A Chinese restaurant with a range of stir fries. Be sure to check them out during the lunch hour—their lunch specials are one of the best values in town!

Panda Buffet

All-you-can-eat Mongolian, Chinese, American, Italian and Japanese dishes. Check out their huge variety of dishes during their lunch from 11-4 or dinner from 4-9:30.

Little Bangkok

Little Bangkok offers traditional Thai cuisine and fresh sushi made to order. Watch your food be crafted right before your eyes. Where their first location is currently in East Grand Forks, you can keep your eyes peeled for their new location coming soon to South Grand Forks!

Sakura Japanese Steakhouse

Sakura offers a wide variety of traditional Japanese dishes including Ramen, Teriyaki entrees, Hibachi entrees, Bento Boxes and more. A bonus, the restaurant has a cool atmosphere with water features and a high-energry hibachi grill!

There are so many international cuisines to choose from in Grand Forks! Whether you enjoy plantains from West Africa or fun fusion foods, an array of options are available to you.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

How’s it going? My name is Kenneth Chase. I was born into a military family in Hawaii and have lived in San Diego, Los Angeles, Devils Lake and East Grand Forks. I originally moved here to be closer to family and to live out my dreams of being a television reporter. Now that time has passed, I work at Altru in public relations. I love to walk my rescue dog Moira (Yes, she’s named after Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek) on the Greenway and support all of the arts events and organizations in town. I’m also on the Downtown Development Association where I volunteer for major events including the street fair and HollyDazzle. The Grand Forks area feels more like home than any other place I’ve lived. Feel free to say hi if you see us on the Greenway!
