Schools
Nathan Twining Elementary and Middle School on Grand Forks Air Force Base educates students up to grade 8. With excellent academics and tons of offerings like intramural sports, spelling bees, and even space camp, your kiddos will be well prepared for success. High schoolers are typically bused into nearby Grand Forks.
For the older students, continuing education is offered through the Community College of the Air Force, University of Mary, Lake Region State College and Park University on base at the Education Center. Classes are also offered through an agreement with the University of North Dakota’s AU-ABC program.
Housing
Both single-family and dorm-style apartments stretch across the base’s acreage. Housing options are also available “downtown” in neighboring communities.

Clinic services are available on base and an excellent partnership with Altru Health System in Grand Forks make sure military families sniffles and scrapes get treated by experts right away.
The base boasts a world-class fitness center with the largest rock climbing wall in North Dakota, a free weight room, an indoor track, and a swimming pool.

There’s always something going on at the Air Base – winter, summer, spring, and fall. Live theater shows, group hunts, and a golf course for those putters. Freedom Fest around the 4th of July brings concerts of epic magnitude and a host of celebrations. There’s even a bowling alley, so don’t be ashamed of those gutter balls.
