There are 19 public elementary, middle, and high schools, and four private schools. So your family has a variety of choices and options for your pride and joy. Our school district is in the top 10 in the state so your kiddos will get an excellent education.
For college students, the University of North Dakota is consistently ranked in the Top 200 among US News & World Reports best universities list.
Housing
Whether you want to live downtown amidst a hubbub of activity, in a historical district, or in a suburban cul-de-sac with a giant yard, Grand Forks ND has you covered. Rental options from downtown condos to single family homes are available, too!
Healthier Living
Maybe you’d like to live in a place with a state-of-the-art healthcare system. Or a place with more than 5,000 providers including specialty care, private practice, chiropractors, dentists and ophtamalogists. Head to toe care is the name of the game.
We want Grand Forks to be an emotionally healthy place to live where people receive the support they need to thrive and succeed. That’s why the Mental Health community collaboration was formed and has been helping residents from all around.
A 21-mile paved trail spans our river in the Greenway – so get your bike on. Or walk, ski, or run. You’ve got options. And be sure to check out the Boathouse on the Red for canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals. Choice Health and Fitness and UND Wellness Center will have your legs feeling like jelly in no time.
Community Life
Want to try something new? Have a crazy idea for that one thing you want to implement? Grand Forks is the place for that. We’re a community of dreamers and doers. Young professionals between the ages of 25-35 have grown by 18% of the last five years because community leaders empower and enable people to build the community they want to live and thrive in.
Livelier Experiences
Year-round activities abound in Grand Forks. Live music? Half Brothers Brewery every night, Alerus Center mega-concerts on the weekend. Symphonies and orchestras at the Empire Arts Center in between.
Downtown filled with nightlife, street fairs, street dances, street food? Yeah. That’s our thing. Check out a full calendar of downtown shenanigans.
Sports ball? Ralph Engelstad Arena is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights in the winter. And the Fighting Hawks Football team tears up the field during the Fall. We’ve got our own roller derby team, race cars at the Speedway, a BMX bike track, and even an annual Collegiate Drone Racing Competition. So get your face paint ready and bring out your cheering voice.
We couldn’t begin to compile all the amazing experiences, but luckily our friends at Visit Grand Forks have a handy dandy calendar of events to keep them all in one place. Happy exploring!
