Park Paradise: 5 Parks to Check Out in Grand Forks

Grand Forks has a lot of parks to go to. People can play at parks. They can have a picnic or a barbeque or hang out or get together at a park. Some people have weddings and receptions at a park. You could have a dance party at a park. Grand Forks has movies in some parks. These are the parks that are my top 5 favorite in Grand Forks.

Lions Park in Grand Forks

Lions Park is by Century Elementary School.  Lions Park is where we have soccer and bocce ball practice for Special Olympics. I always go over to Lions Park for the Grand Forks Park District’s Just For Fun program to volunteer to help the leaders.  This summer, the big playground equipment was fixed.  They have a picnic shelter at Lions Park that people can use to have a picnic. Lions Park is a good place to just chill and unwind or have fun running around!

Lincoln Park is where we have our Special Olympics picnics every summer.  In the winter, people can go sledding on the hill at Lincoln Park.  There are barbecue grills and picnic shelters for people to use.  Lincoln Park also has two sand volleyball courts to use as well as a frisbee golf course.  There is a golf course close to Lincoln Park and a dog park there.  They also have a playground and bathrooms.  In the winter, there are snowshoe and cross-country skiing trails.

Bringewatt Park in Grand Forks

Bringewatt Park is the best park to train for a 5K race because you can walk around the park. There is a playground with a tunnel slide there and lots of soccer fields.  Bringewatt Park has sand volleyball and bocce courts.  There is a concession stand open during soccer games and bathrooms too.

University Park in Grand Forks.

University Park hosts many activities. They have Summerthing Kids!, a group that shows movies in the park during the summer.  University Park as a French Fry feed for the UND Football Potato Bowl week in the fall.  There is a splash park next to a playground.  There are tennis courts.  University Park is close to UND for students to hang out or study.  It is a big park to have a barbecue. It is a great place to chillax with lots of plants to enjoy!

Sertoma Park in Grand Forks.

Sertoma Park is between the hospital and the Alerus Center.  My bike riding trail goes by Sertoma park.  I see people having barbecues and suntanning there.  The 4th of July celebration was at Sertoma Park this summer.  The Japanese garden is next to Sertoma Park.  Ali’s Boundless Playground is at Sertoma Park.  Its a better playground than the old park we played at when we were kids.  There is more equipment to play on than there was before and can be for people with and without disabilities to play on.  People in wheelchairs can play at this park.  Sertoma Park also has picnic shelters.  Some weddings have been at Sertoma Park!

Grand Forks, ND has lots of parks for people to enjoy whatever they want to do. You can rollerblade, walk, run, bike ride and find a new park close to you. There are lots different parks to go to, not just the ones on this list!.  You could find a new park to go to and tell us what you think about that park.
