Enjoy Downtown Grand Forks

Across the state, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum called on communities to invest in the Main Street mentality. The Grand Forks region took the challenge head-on. From cafes with hearty fare to downtown events to investments in new infrastructure, the cities in the Grand Forks region are Main Street proud.

Freshly built pergolas on Northwood’s Main Street have created a new gathering place for families to enjoy a summer lunch. A line of classic cars juxtaposes a shiny new fire truck on Main Street in Emerado during its annual Corn Feed celebration. A splash of bright paint on a new collaborative artist studio highlights a flurry of Main Street business renovations in Reynolds.

And things are only going to get cooler from here. The future of downtown Grand Forks will see more than $50 million in investments, 300 new housing units, room for nearly 20 new businesses, including a downtown grocery store, and revitalized public spaces.

It’s big enough to have good times with sports and shows. And it is small enough so you can get around without stress. You can get acquainted with lots of people. Or if you prefer the quiet life, you also can find that here.

I love that there always seems to be something going on with sporting events, downtown events, or concerts. It’s small enough that you’re not in a city with traffic, but big enough that there is always something to do.

From the “I Do’s” at a wedding, to the smell of roasted almonds before the game winning goal, it makes me proud to call the Ralph home. And we are just a small part of the uniqueness that makes Grand Forks, “way cooler than you think”.
